1 Day Sea Kayak Tour

1 Day Sea Kayak Tour

Heading deeper and more remote than our half day options, explore the breathtaking Coastal National Parks the South Coast is famous for. Stop on exclusive beaches to lunch, explore and swim. A perfect coastal paddle for active people.

Enjoy the day out exploring coastal beauty of South Coast NSW in comfortable stable "Bears of the Sea".

Itinerary:

These day tours are scheduled to explore different sections of the South Coast of NSW so you can visit again and again and check a new section of coast!! Tours run between Bawley Point and Narooma on the South Coast of NSW, the scheduled location may change due to wind or swell, please be aware your exact meeting location will come from your trip leader by phone the evening prior.

Given you will be expected to be able to paddle for a few hours prior to landing on beaches, its a great idea to have some prior sea kayak experience, (keep this in mind if your considering booking your kids in!)

The morning of your tour you will meet the guide team and your travel companions.

Our team will issue equipment, pack your essentials and train you on the use of the Sea Kayaks.

Your journey will take you along the shoreline of the Eurobodalla, where spotted gum forest falls steeply to the ocean.

Spotting wildlife is always a highlight, whales are common in Winter and Spring and dolphins, sea birds, seals and more are possible all year.

Sea kayaking really opens up the otherwise remote and inaccessible beches, islands, rock platforms and coves, you will discover wonderful places to stop in a sea kayak en route. We can choose any number of locations to land for a lunch break, a swim, a walk or a relax on shore.

Your kayak is relatively large and capable of fitting lots of equipment, with this in mind its a great idea to bring towels, warmer clothing, swimmers, hats, sun cream a camera, but you can leave the catering up to us!!

Given we check weather forecasts the night prior, we often use the tail breeze to get to our final destination.

On arrival at the end location, transfer back to your vehicles will follow.

The exact meeting point for your day will be confirmed 2 days prior chosen using the wind and swell to aid our journey. On these day tours the group either travels North to South from departure points to maximize the possible advantage from any breeze on the day.

We use stable Expedition style Sea Kayaks for these tours, and the tour is recommended for moderately fit outdoor lovers.

Although timing will vary depending on group, weather, chosen route, The Day tours are approximately 8am to 3pm.

Hike - Pigeon House Mountain

Hike - Pigeon House Mountain

The best short hike on the South Coast of New South Wales. Enjoy comfortable transport, stories and more from Region X staff en route. Enjoy amazing summit views and stop at a waterhole for a swim on returning!

Be amazed by the history surrounding this great walk, the Aboriginal name for the mountain Didthol, meaning Big Mountain, culturally the mountain is a significant area. Later named by Captain Cook in 1770 as Pigeon House Hill for its shape, clearly seen from the ocean.

The hike itself is an extremely rewarding experience, the views from the summit to the west into magical wilderness regions of the Buddawangs show sandstone cliffs, gorges and escarpments. Views to the east show the amazing NSW coastline stretching as far as the eye can see.

Your Itinerary

7am  Canberra Hotel Pickups commence

8am Batemans Bay Hotel Pickups commence

9am Batemans Bay departure

If you choose to add a hotel pickup, please be ready at your designated Hotel waiting area.

Travelling north from Batemans Bay in comfortable air conditioned transport you will reach the Morton National Park, catch glimpses of the southern end of the Sydney Sandstone Basin through spotted gum forest and learn about the uses of the area. After around an hour drive the dominant Pigeon House mountain awaits at the hike start location.

While the hike is considered to be an easy 3 hour return hike, the first section straight out of the carpark is quite steep and walkers should be prepared for a tough first ascent. The first of the rest stops atop a granite outcrop gives great views to the south and is a welcome chance to rest, drink and admire the views while your guides chat about the geology.

While the trail continues on a relatively flat plateau through tea tree and xanthoria, pockets of dry and uniquely wet temperate forest pass you on both sides for the next half hour. Finally the mountain gently rises prior to the first of a series of steel ladders and platforms constructed by Natinoal Parks and Wildlife Service. The safe steel structures guide you to the summit where expansive views into the Buddawang Wilderness and the ocean await.

Spend as much time as you like on the summit and make your way down the trail, on your return journey lunch is prepared midway with incredible views to help you savour the experience!

Upon returning to the car park your guides will take you to the best spots to take a dip or soak your feet to celebrate your hike, either a local beach or the freshwater of the pristine upper Clyde River. It is here that we encourage a natural foot soak, a cold drink and some afternoon snacks.

Return transport to Batemans Bay will follow.
